​Audio Engineering Professor

Dr. Ackermann has an impressive combination of practical experience and scientific expertise. Before starting his academic career, he trained as an event technology specialist. He worked in live sound reinforcement and live sound design (FOH) with well-known artists such as Ja, Panik and Fuffifufzich – a field in which he is still active today. This close connection to practical work has had a particular influence on his understanding of the technical and artistic requirements of modern audio productions.
 
In his dissertation entitled “Dynamic Sound Sources for Virtual Acoustic Reality: Description, Implementation and Evaluation,” he focused on the investigation and analysis of the spatial acoustic influence of natural sound sources, such as musical instruments, as well as the development of advanced acoustic simulation methods. In his research and teaching, he combines over twenty years of experience in studio and live audio engineering with research in the field of virtual acoustics.​​​​​
